As we're well into the second quarter of 2017, let's pause, take a deep breath, and see where this ‘warp speed’ digital evolution and technological disruption from all corners, is hurling us into the future… 

The annual report from We are Social estimates the world population has crossed the 7.4 billion mark, where over 50% of the population are connected to the internet

Mobile phone users throughout the globe is almost 5 billion (4.917) and a staggering 2.539 billion of all 2.789 billion social media users, come from mobile

And quite logically, there's a 20% decrease in the usage of desktops and laptops, bringing its share of the global web traffic down to 45%

Come to think of it,  it has been close to 25 years since the World Wide Web has been available for the public, and in this time the internet has become an integral part of the day to day lives for the majority of the world’s population. 

For most of us, we cannot imagine leaving our house without the rectangular piece of hand held device we call ‘smart phones, because this digital gadget has been seamlessly woven into our everyday activities and facilitates us in nearly every step of the way.

Today there are 2.3 billion active social media users in the world, which is almost one-third of the global population. But did you know Facebook is a relatively ‘recent’ phenomenon in the social media landscape?
